Overview

Hour drive from Denver • 4.5 hours roundtrip • All ages

Adventure • Exercise • Nature

Duration

2-4 Hour Hike • 4.5 Hours Round Trip

About

Beginners to advanced, all levels are welcome. We will do a 2-4 hour hike in the Rocky Mountains within a 1-hour drive from Denver. We will meet at a coffee shop 5 mins from downtown and will carpool to the trailhead. We'll go hiking in the mountains, connect with nature, soak in the sunshine, see jaw-dropping mountain views, maybe see some wildlife, take snack and water breaks, learn about the wildflowers and trees, make new friends, get some exercise and breathe in the fresh mountain air! We will take as many photos as you'd like and send them to you at the end of the hike. Our hope is that you'll feel healthier and happier after spending time hiking with us and connecting with the beauty of Colorado. There will be an optional group lunch at a unique cafe after the hike or you can buy lunch at the coffee shop and eat at a picturesque spot on the trail.

The hike will be easy to moderate for people in good physical shape, but it can be challenging for people who do not exercise regularly. The hike's elevation will be somewhere between 6,000 and 12,000 ft. A car is not required for this experience, but guests who provide their own transportation and help drive others are eligible for a $10 refund. The minimum group size is 2 hikers. Private and corporate groups are welcome, we can cater the experience to your preferences.

We can take 12 hikers but we can only drive 4. We encourage hikers to provide their own transportation. We keep our prices low by carpooling.

Additional Info

We look forward to meeting you!

Below is some information to help you prepare. I'll be in touch 1-2 days before the hike with weather and guide info. Your guide with either be me (Robin) or one of my awesome co-guides Brian, Madison or Mark.

WEATHER: We never know what the weather will be like in Colorado. In the winter, be prepared for temperatures from zero to 60, in the summer, be ready for temps between 50-90, and in the spring and fall, be ready for temperatures between 20-70. The temperature in the mountains is often 20-30 degrees cooler than Denver. We usually do not cancel if there is snow or rain, but if there is lightning nearby or heavy snow that creates potentially dangerous driving or hiking conditions, then we will cancel and you will be fully refunded.

CLOTHES: Bring warm layers, jacket, hat, gloves (in the winter), and sunglasses. Layers are important because it can feel hot when you’re hiking uphill but cold when you stop and rest.

SHOES: Hiking shoes/boots are highly recommended, especially in the winter. The trail can be covered in snow and ice, and hiking shoes will have better traction on the bottom. Waterproof/water resistant shoes are recommended, so your feet don’t get wet and cold. If you aren’t sure if your shoes are good for hiking, look at the bottom of them. Do they have good traction like a car tire or are they smooth and flat with no traction?

WHAT TO BRING: Bring a backpack where you can store layers that you aren’t using, a reusable water bottle with 48 ounces of water (disposable plastic bottles are bad for the environment) and any snacks that you like. Your guide will have granola bars/trailmix available if you want it.

MEETING SPOT: Typically we meet at 9am an awesome coffee shop called Huckleberry Roasters. The address is 4301 Pecos St, Denver, CO 80211. They have the BEST BREAKFAST BURRITOS in all of Denver, so arrive 30 mins early if you want to eat one of them for breakfast. We will be in touch before the hike if there are any changes to the meeting time and location.

DRIVING: We will meet at the café mentioned above and then carpool to the trailhead. I can only fit 4 people in my car but we often have generous hikers in the group with rental cars who offer to help drive other hikers. If we don’t have enough cars in the group, we will get an Uber to help get the group to and from the trailhead, but that limits us to certain trails. We recommend getting a rental car since the best things to do around Denver are not easily Uber-able. Turo.com has affordable rental cars available near your accommodations.

RETURN TIME: We aim to get back to Denver around 1:30 but depending on the pace of the group, the return time can vary from 1:00-4pm. If you bring your own car, you can skip the optional lunch and be finished earlier.

DENVER RECOMMENDATIONS: We have published a page with our favorite Denver recommendations, which you can check out here.
