Carytown, otherwise known as The Mile of Style, is an eclectic mix of restaurants, boutiques, and professional services. Including the east coast’s oldest outdoor shopping center and a movie theater that will take you back in time, you’ll fall in love with this unique neighborhood instantly.
Joining Discover Richmond Tours' headline tour means exploring Carytown in a unique way. You will sample delicious food and snacks from up to 6 different restaurants, cafes, and bakeries, possibly including authentic French fare, world-renowned tacos, hand-crafted cupcakes, and more! You’ll expand your mind as you learn about the history of Richmond and Carytown, and where our partner merchants got their start. But most of all, we’ll make sure you have fun doing it.

This is Alex from Discover Richmond Tours, and I'm so glad you'll be touring Carytown with us! Below are some helpful tips for tour day:
Things To Know:
- Please wear comfortable shoes - we'll be doing some walking (~0.75 miles total), and we won't necessarily sit at each stop.
- Bring a bottle of water, especially during the summer. It gets hot in Richmond! Water will be offered at many of our stops, but we'll be outside a bit as well.
- Gratuities for your tour guide are not required, but definitely appreciated for a job well done.
- Come ready to have fun!
Where to Park
Weekends in Carytown can be busy! We recommend parking on Ellwood Ave (one block north of Cary St) or Parkwood Ave (one block south) and walking over. Alternatively, there are a few garages and lots available, but you should expect them to be crowded:
- Garage at 3300 block of West Cary Street (enter on Crenshaw Avenue)
- Lot at 3000 block of West Cary Street (behind the shops)
- Garage at 2900 block of West Cary Street (behind the Byrd Theater)
Weather
We tour rain or shine! If the forecast calls for rain, we suggest an umbrella an a positive attitude, and we promise the food we'll try will be as delicious as ever. In the event of dangerous weather, we will reschedule our tour.

Cancellation Policy
Standard cancellation policy (without Trip Protection): All purchased tickets are non-refundable. However, if you can no longer attend on the scheduled tour date, you are eligible to receive a voucher as long as you notify us of your intention at least 7 days prior to your tour, by emailing hello@discoverrichmondtours.com. Please include your booking number, or reply to your confirmation email. Vouchers will not be issued within seven days of your tour unless you have purchased Trip Protection.
If you added Trip Protection you may cancel your reservation and receive a refund up to 24 hours before your tour starts. Subject to the following terms and conditions:
- Cancellation request must be submitted via email to hello@discoverrichmondtours.com by the deadline and include your booking # (simply replying to your confirmation email is best).
- We will refund the purchase price of your tour, minus Trip Protection fee and booking fees, if applicable.
- Trip Protection can not be added after your booking has been made.
