How to Prepare:
Before:
- Have a hearty breakfast: Lunch will only be available (to purchase) once we arrive at Flamenco Beach Kiosks.
- Seasickness: The ferry ride is often a bumpy ride even on days with the best marine conditions. Please consider seasickness remedies in advance if you believe this may have an effect on you.
- Restrooms are available on ferry, at the terminal before and after the excursion and at Flamenco, but not available during the time spent at Tamarindo Beach.
What to Wear:
- Be fully clothed with your bathing suit on under your regular clothing. The Ferry Administration requires a certain dress code to board the ferry. They do not allow clients to wear just a swimsuit or missing a top/shirt or bottom/shorts. A dress or cover-up cannot be mesh or see-through.
- Protection from the sun - hat, sunglasses, long sleeve shirt or rash guard, biodegradable sunblock, etc.
- Shoes that can get wet (flip flops or water shoes are fine)
- Contacts instead of glasses if possible (snorkel mask won't work with glasses). If you wear glasses, consider straps that keep them in place to avoid losing them.
What to Bring
- Only bring one small bag or backpack per customer.
- Cell phone. This is for communication through-out the day. However, please note reception is not very reliable in Culebra.
- Your own lunch: We recommend packing your lunch to maximize your beach time at Flamenco Beach and avoid the long lines to purchase food at the Kiosks.
- We will provide light snacks and refreshments, but feel free to bring your own.
- Cash for lunch, gratuities and other spending you may wish.
- Towel and change of clothes for after the excursion
- A reusable cup or bottle (in an effort to produce less waste).
- If you would like to take your cell phone or a camera on the excursion, make sure it is waterproof or in a pouch with a strap.
- DO NOT BRING ANY VALUABLES OR ITEMS THAT CANNOT GET WET – lost items are very hard to find in the water, and anything you take with you will get wet!
- Do Not Bring alcohol, coolers or items bigger than a carry-on bag.
- Please note: We provide snorkeling gear, however some sizes, face shapes or features (such as facial hair) may still allow openings for water. You are welcome to bring your own snorkeling gear if you wish.
Important Disclaimers:
- The Ferry schedule is prone to changes (even on the spot). Plan with plenty of flex time before and after the tour. In the event of any delays or cancellations, you may not arrive to your destination on time. If you have a flight on the same day (or early next morning) or any other time-sensitive arrangements, we suggest joining us a different day instead. Kayaking Puerto Rico is NOT responsible for personal expenses or rebooking fees related to Ferry delays or cancellations.
- Each ferry ticket will allow you to bring one small bag or backpack per customer. If you are planning to bring other items, keep in mind the Ferry Administration will charge you for those items before boarding. You will be responsible for paying those fees and transporting them while on the island.
- You are responsible for sharing the information throughout this email with the rest of your group and for notifying us ahead of time with any concerns about your health or physical condition for the excursion.
- PLEASE USE DIRECTION LINKS INSIDE THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL Gmail preview addresses maybe incorrect, especially when viewing from a cell phone.
Participation Minimum
This excursion requires a minimum of at least six guests per session in order to provide the tour. In the event this minimum is not met, we will call one or two days prior to the excursion to go over alternative options (i.e., reschedule for a different date or time that has the minimum requirement, payment options for a private excursion, or cancel without penalty).
Cancellation Policy
STANDARD POLICY*
We have a 48-hour cancellation policy for all of our excursions. Up until 48 hours before check-in time, you may change your reservation or cancel it for a full refund. Cancellations made in less than 48 hours before check-in time, late arrivals, and “no-shows” will maintain a full charge. All cancellations must be made directly with Kayaking Puerto Rico by telephone or email. If you booked through a Third Party (TripAdvisor, Viator, Expedia, Get Your Guide, Airbnb, etc.) you should contact them to ensure your reservation is properly changed or canceled.
This policy also applies to cruise ship passengers and guests flying into Puerto Rico. Plan your schedule accordingly to avoid any potential for missing the start time.
*GROUPS OF 10 OR MORE GUESTS
Groups of 10 or more guests must cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the excursion in order to receive a full refund. Cancellations of groups made in less than 2 weeks prior to the excursion date will maintain a full charge on any spaces we are unable to resell. Guests that are no-shows or late arrivals will receive the full charge.
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
Rain is very common in the Tropical region our tours take place in. These tours go out rain-or-shine! That being said, KPR Operations Team makes the decision to cancel a tour due to weather if necessary for safety reasons. Please do not make the mistake of deciding not to attend due to weather as you will still be charged if the excursion goes out. If you ever have a question about the weather conditions, please call us before making a decision.
In the case of a canceled tour we will notify you as soon as possible with alternatives such as rescheduling to another date, booking another tour, or full refund.
Due to the sometimes unpredictable weather in the Caribbean, cancellations may be done the same day on site.
FINAL AGREEMENT
We will not provide refunds for any failure to adhere to the restrictions and policies here contained. This includes but is not limited to: participant age, weight, health and physical restrictions, cancellations/reschedules past the cancellation policy window, late arrivals or no-shows.
Due to the unique nature and small size of our groups, we are forced to remain firm about our cancellation policy. Regardless of the cancellation reason, our time and fixed costs are already invested; we may even have turned down other customers by holding your space. Thank you for understanding!
