Congratulations on taking the first step to experience SCUBA Diving!
First time (non-certified) divers will experience the PADI Discover Scuba Diving beginners program, which covers the fundamental rules and guidelines of safe scuba diving. Our goal is to help you get comfortable with the equipment and experience what it's like to glide underwater. If you are so-inspired and have room in your schedule, we hope you'll consider joining us for a follow-up discovery dive in the OCEAN where we can put you face-to-face with our cherished Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles!
After a detailed, hands-on orientation, divers will enter the pool and practice three basic scuba-related skills. These skills are designed to build confidence and to show you just how easy scuba diving really is. After satisfactorily completing the skills portion of your lesson, you will follow your guide for an underwater swim and help you gain confidence in using SCUBA gear.
Check-in:
Please be at the check-in location (found in the purple section above on this email) 15 minutes prior to the start time of your lesson. Out of respect for other divers, ALL lessons must start and end on time and will NOT be able to accommodate people who are running late. PLAN AHEAD! If you are late and/or miss the lesson, unfortunately you will be considered a day-of cancellation and will be unable to offer a refund of any kind for any fees paid in advanced. You are meeting at a very specific location at the Grand Hyatt Resort. Be sure to PLAN AHEAD so you're not late. We've conveniently attached this link in the PURPLE SECTION. Click "Get Directions".
We Will Provide:
- Premium Scuba Gear (BCD, Regulator, Tank, Weights, Mask, Fins, & Wetsuit).
- PADI Professional Dive Instructor
Please Note: we provide all rental gear at no additional cost, however, if the gear ends up lost or damaged beyond repair under your use, an additional fee will be incurred. Please make sure all of your gear is fully secure before entering or exiting the water, make sure to talk with your dive instructor if you have any questions.
Things You Should Bring:
- $5/person fee if you don't feel you'll be joining us in the ocean to cover the cost of materials if not already paid.
- Swimsuit (please wear as there are no changing facilities)
- Towel
- Sunscreen (applied at least 45 minutes prior to the lesson)
- Sunglasses with Leash
- Hat (with straps to secure to your noggin is best!)
- Activity Voucher (if booked by concierge)
- Cash/Credit Card for Souvenirs & Gratuity (if you appreciated your dive instructor gratuity is appreciated but not required)
- SMILES and a sense of ALOHA Adventure! (after all, you are in Hawaii!)

Cancellation Policy
24 HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL TOURS
Dive Kauai Discover Scuba Adventures are something you won’t want to miss! However, we do understand that things happen and you may be required to cancel or postpone your lesson. For this reason, we have developed various policies we feel accommodate circumstances that may be beyond your control.
Tours cancelled up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled date and time of the tour will not be charged any fees to credit card on file (This is calculated down to the minute! If tour is at 7:30am, you have until 7:29am Hawaii time the day before)
Tours cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled date and time of the tour or customers who do not show up to the scheduled tour will be charged 100% of the tour total (This is calculated down to the minute! If tour is at 7:30am, you have until 7:29am Hawaii time the day before)
***If you are late and the tour has had to start without you, this will be considered a day of cancellation and not eligible for a refund of any kind! If we have the space available to reschedule you for another tour, there will be a reschedule fee of $60+tax per person for one(1) dive tour and $80+tax per person for two(2) dive tours, applied to your reservation.
Not All Non-Certified Divers Can Do The Dive
Sometimes, non-certified divers may not be able to overcome their fears or anxiety and actually get underwater to do the actual dive. Our team strives to work with each individual to help them overcome these fears, but sometimes it is just too powerful and you may opt to discontinue the dive. However, because the space taken prevented us from allowing another diver to make a reservation and since the gear and staff time was used, we are UNABLE to refund any part of the cost of the dive.
Medical Conditions May Prevent You From Diving
We want to share our passion for diving with you, but safety will always be our top priority. Upon poolside check-in with your dive instructor, you must complete a paper form which includes a diver medical questionnaire. Each individual's health situation is unique and this form helps identify any concerns that may prevent you from diving. Your dive instructor, who is NOT a physician, will make the final safety call.
Elevation and Diving Safety
PLEASE NOTE: For YOUR SAFETY you cannot participate in any activity above 1000' or 300 meters in elevation within 18 hours after diving in the ocean at depth. This includes driving and hiking to Waimea Canyon, Taking a Helicopter or Airplane Tour of the island as well as departing island in a commercial aircraft (even if just flying to Oahu). Our staff will have your safety in mind and may prevent you from participating in the scheduled dive. This would result in being considered a "DAY OF CANCELLATION" and therefore will not be eligible for any refund of any kind. If you made a reservation less than 18 hours prior to going above 1000' or 300 meters in elevation, please contact our office outside 24 hours to cancel or reschedule your tour. If you are within our 24 hour cancellation period, the cancellation policy will be in full effect.
