Depending on time of year and availability, Dive Kauai has multiple housing options. Most will be shared room (bunk bed) with community bathroom and kitchen. On rare occasion we may have ability for a Private Room still with community bathroom and kitchen.

- Dive Training & More: Dive into extensive training sessions, including practical dives, classroom time, and exams, all designed to enhance your skills.
- Explore on Off Days: Take advantage of fun diving opportunities on non-training days to discover the underwater beauty at your leisure. But also explore all that Kauai has to offer! (We can help provide discounts on various activities and adventures island wide!)
- Equipment Provided: We've got your basic equipment rental covered, ensuring you're fully equipped for every dive. Important Recommendation: We strongly encourage securing your own set of SCUBA equipment before beginning the Divemaster portion of the course. Familiarizing and training with your own personal gear enhances your learning experience and comfort during the program. (We offer specially discounted gear packages for our trainees, or you're welcome to acquire your equipment independently before your arrival.) BE AWARE: When purchasing gear online, be cautions as some sites may sell items not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. 📘 Knowledge Development:
- Engage in an in-depth Divemaster eLearning experience, spanning nine chapters with subsequent Knowledge Reviews. Topics include the role of a Divemaster, dive physics and physiology, equipment, environment, decompression theory, RDP tables, and the business of diving.
- Tackle online Final Exams, parts one and two, to solidify your theoretical understanding.
- Participate in an RDP/eRDPml lecture and view the PADI Divemaster video to gain visual and practical insights.
- Craft an Emergency Assistance Plan for a local dive site, preparing you for real-world scenarios.
🏊 Water Skills Development:
- Complete a series of water skills exercises, including swims, float, and equipment exchange, to enhance your in-water proficiency.

Scuba Diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to obtain written approval from a physician before diving. Please complete this form and get signed by your medical professional PRIOR to coming to Kauai. Diver Medical Questionnaire ***It is crucial that all information provided regarding your health, medical history, and any current conditions is accurate and complete. Dive Kauai Scuba Center needs to be fully informed of any medical needs, allergies, or conditions that could impact your participation. Failure to disclose such information or to follow medical advice could lead to serious consequences, for which Dive Kauai Scuba Center cannot be held liable. We reserve the right to decline applicants who may require specialized medical care. ***

Joining the Divemaster Internship at Dive Kauai Scuba Center means embracing the challenges and demands of a rigorous training program, both physically and emotionally. Participants should be prepared for differences in living standards, including aspects like food, hygiene and accommodations, which might not align with what they're accustomed to back home.
A few aspects are not included in the Divemaster Internship cost, so please plan accordingly:
- Travel & Expenses: You are responsible for organizing and covering your own travel, expenses and insurance throughout the training period.
- Daily Necessities: Remember to budget for meals, personal items, souvenirs/gifts, flights, visas (if necessary), and insurance to ensure a worry-free stay.
- PADI Renewal Fee: Pros are responsible to maintain your Divemaster status each calendar year. This fee will be on each individual and renewed with PADI directly (Not Dive Kauai)
- 🤿 Personal Dive Gear:
Essential SCUBA items include: BCD, Regulator, Mask/Snorkel/Fins, Wetsuit, a dive computer, a Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) with reel.
Dive professionals will always want to have your own personal SCUBA Set and there are many great benefits to training with your own gear. Dive Kauai can assist you in picking and ordering your own gear (potentially with some discounts from manufacturers) to have before you begin the Divemaster portion of your training. You're also welcome to pre-purchase and bring your own. We will provide basic gear throughout training at no additional cost.
- 🛡️ Insurance:
Participants will want to have a Health Insurance Policy to cover any medical related issues while on island for training. Most USA Citizens will already have. International students are strongly encouraged to search for a Health Insurance Plan.
In addition, ALL Participants are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to have Diver's Insurance. Divers Alert Network (DAN) is the world's most recognized and respected dive safety organization comprised of dive professionals and medical experts dedicated to supporting divers. DAN has created an extensive network capable of providing divers around the world with vital services.

As a DAN member you receive: Emergency Evacuation Assistance, 24/7 Emergency Hotline, Medical Information Line and much more. ** Personal Responsibility:** Your personal belongings are your responsibility. Dive Kauai Scuba Center cannot be accountable for any loss or damage. Ensure you have a valid passport, necessary visas, permits, vaccinations, and all relevant travel and medical documentation.

Legal Compliance: Compliance with local laws, regulations, and customs is mandatory. Any breach may result in being asked to leave the program, with no liability on Dive Kauai Scuba Center. You must also secure the appropriate visa or tourist permit before starting the program.
- Cultural and Legal Respect: As a participant, you're expected to respect and adhere to the local laws and cultural norms, maintaining a responsible and courteous demeanor at all times. You should also follow the instructions provided by Dive Kauai Scuba Center and local authorities, especially regarding health and safety protocols.
Remember, while participating in this program, you represent Dive Kauai Scuba Center and should act in a way that upholds our values and fosters positive relationships within the local community. Any actions that could harm these relationships or the reputation of Dive Kauai Scuba Center will not be tolerated. Your commitment to these principles is essential for a successful and enriching Divemaster Internship experience.
💵 FINANCIAL UNDERSTANDING
- $500 Deposit is Non-Refundable
- Final Balance Due: Final payment of balance for your specific program is due 4 weeks before arrival. You will receive a second email outlining the final balance for your program. This can be on the same credit card you paid the deposit, a different card.
- Cancellation Policy: Our detailed cancellation policy is outlined at the bottom of this email and important for you to fully understand.

Cancellation Policy
DIVE KAUAI SCUBA CENTER DIVEMASTER PROGRAM CANCELLATION & TERMINATION GUIDELINES
Deposit & Payment Policy:
- Non-Refundable Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is required to secure your spot in our program. This deposit is part of the total program cost and covers initial administrative and reservation expenses. As state this is NON-REFUNDABLE.
- Full Payment Deadline: All program fees must be paid in full at least 4 weeks prior to the scheduled start date. This is essential to confirm your participation and secure your spot in the Dive Kauai Scuba Center Divemaster Program.
- Non-Confirmation for Unpaid Balances: Participants who have not paid their program fees in full by this deadline will not be considered confirmed for their originally scheduled start date.
- Rescheduling for Late Payments: Should the program fees be settled after the 4-week deadline, participation will be subject to the availability of spots in future programs. Dive Kauai will make reasonable efforts to accommodate late-paying participants, but scheduling will be primarily dictated by Dive Kauai's operational availability and cannot be guaranteed. If a reschedule date is available, a transfer fee of $500 will be applied.
- Importance of Timely Payment: Prompt payment ensures that all necessary preparations, including accommodations, equipment, and staffing, can be arranged in advance to provide an optimal experience for all participants. It also secures your commitment to the program and aids in the overall planning and execution of the program schedule.
Please ensure that all payments are made in a timely manner to avoid any disruptions to your planned participation in the program. Late payments may not only affect your ability to join the program on your desired date but also impact Dive Kauai's ability to deliver the high-quality experience all participants expect.
Cancellation Policy:
- More Than 45 Days Prior to Start: Cancellations made more than 45 days before the program start date are eligible for a refund of all monies paid, minus the non-refundable $500 deposit.
- 45 to 30 Days Prior to Start: If you cancel between 45 and 30 days before the start date, you're entitled to a 70% refund of the program cost, minus the $500 non-refundable deposit. A full refund for any housing costs paid.
- Less Than 30 Days Prior to Start: Cancellations made less than 30 days before the start date will receive a 40% refund of the program cost, minus the non-refundable $500 deposit. Housing costs are non-refundable at this point unless Dive Kauai can fill your space with another participant.
Date Transfer Policy:
- Participants may request to change their program dates without any fee up to 8 weeks before the scheduled start.
- A transfer fee of $250 applies within 8 to 4 weeks of the start date, and a $500 fee applies for changes made less than 4 weeks prior to the start.
- All transfers are subject to availability and Dive Kauai's approval, and cannot be rescheduled more than 1 year from the original date.
Dive Kauai's Right to Cancel:
- Dive Kauai reserves the right to cancel or shorten the program under certain circumstances, including but not limited to force majeure events.
- If Dive Kauai cancels the program before it begins due to circumstances beyond our control, participants will receive a refund of their deposit and any other fees paid, minus any non-recoverable expenses already incurred. (Purchased eLearning materials for example)
Notice and Settlement:
- All cancellation notices must be provided in writing to ensure clear communication.
- Any refunds or accommodations provided by Dive Kauai will be deemed a full and final settlement of any claims against Dive Kauai Scuba Center.
Termination & Dismissal Guidelines:
Dive Kauai Scuba Center maintains the right to terminate a participant's involvement in the program for any breaches of contract or behavior detrimental to the program, participants, or local community.
* Immediate dismissal without refund of any kind will result from:
* Illegal substance possession, distribution, or consumption, in accordance with Kauai's
Laws.
* Abusive, negligent, or harmful behavior towards others in the program or local
community.
* Disregarding health and safety instructions from Dive Kauai or local authorities.
* Actions that could harm Dive Kauai's future operations or sour local community relations.
* Violating local laws.
Please Note: Decisions regarding expulsion are final and not subject to appeal. Participants dismissed for any reason will not receive refunds and are responsible for their own subsequent expenses.
