Overview

Two Hours • All Ages • Most Popular!

Duration

  • Approximately two hours.

About

  • Our Eco-Easy Guided Kayak Tour takes you down a beautiful black water creek tributary of Amelia Island. All sorts of birds, reptiles, alligators, flora, and fauna may be seen on this relaxing, easy paddle for the whole family.
  • This is our most popular area for kayak tours of Amelia Island thanks to its inland calm waters. The Eco- Easy kayak tour will take you through beautiful forested wetlands teeming with native wildlife. You may experience turtles, alligators, red-headed woodpeckers, hawks, and possibly even a pirate or two! Your relaxing 2-hour paddle will bring you through the black water lined by cypress trees, sweet gum trees, pine trees, Spanish moss, arrowroot, wild azalea, and so much more. You will enjoy your paddle on this fresh water creek with the characteristic black or 'stained' water that comes from tannic acid formed as plants decay. This creates a transparent, acidic water that reflects the scenery around it like a mirror. This makes for an amazing eco tour and beautiful photographic opportunities.
  • Because this waterway is protected from the direct coastal elements, it is much more calm, and makes the ideal choice for all skill level of paddlers. Being only minutes from Amelia Island, it makes for the perfect kayak tour adventure for all groups!

Additional Info

We are so excited to have you joining us for a Wild Life adventure!

As the date is approaching quickly, here is some information you will need to know to make your trip as much fun as possible!

*Starting location for Eco Easy or Big Cypress kayak adventures is Melton Nelson Boat Ramp 463540 State Road 200 Yulee FL 32097

You will be provided use of the kayak, paddle and life jacket (unless BYOK bring your own kayak). We also will have drinks and snacks for you to take along on your paddle. You are also welcome to bring along additional drinks/snacks you like, HOWEVER no coolers will be allowed on the kayaks. Please note there is no alcohol allowed at the boat ramp per county laws*.

*There are restrooms at the boat ramp, should you need a place to change clothing, etc.

IMPORTANT! Please wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting wet, as you WILL step into 6"-12" of water or so in order to enter/exit the kayaks.

*Please park in the dirt parking area or in the grass, avoid parking on the pavement or in the turning area by the boat launch.

*Tour guides receive 100% of any gratuities.

We do not cancel for light rain (unless it is 60° or below)… if it looks like light rain you are welcome to bring a poncho or just enjoy the "Florida air conditioning". However, if it looks like storms or lightning, we will reschedule the event. Because of Florida's mood swings, we wait until about 90 minutes before the events to determine whether or not to cancel, because Florida changes her mind all the time on what kind of weather she wants to have!

*For GUIDED tours, we will post all complimentary photos on our Facebook page in an album with your party's name on it. You are welcome to download, share or copy any photos you like!
https://www.facebook.com/PaddleJaxAmelia

Please note:
  • During peak seasons, the boat ramp can become crowded and we may have to wait our turn to launch. This can delay the start time, and subsequently extend the time of the tour. Please allow adequate time for any other adventures you may have planned!

  • Single kayaks are rated to safely carry 300-325 pounds, tandem kayaks rated for 500 pounds.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are looking forward to seeing you and having a FANTASTIC time on your adventure!
