Faqs: Why can’t I reserve a rental for today!?
We don’t offer same day pick up, so just reserve for tomorrow and your gear will be in the shed at midnight!

Are there any other rental companies in the area?
The Yosemite Conservancy rents gear and REI does as well!

Do you offer any discounts?
Not really—but you’ll notice that rentals get cheaper the longer you rent them!

When can I pick up my rental?
Anytime! We have created a system that allows you to access them at whatever time is convenient for you!
- All rentals start at midnight on the first day of your rental period.
- Our Rental Shed is accessible 24/7 during your rental, so you can pick up and drop off at any time.

Where is the Rental Shed?
Our Rental Shed is to the left of our front door at the end of the sidewalk. It has a fully automated door and is under 24-hour surveillance. Your gear will be waiting for you inside—just follow the access instructions in your confirmation email.

I need to pick up my rental a day early due to my travel plans. Do I have to pay for an extra day?
Yes, your rental charge is based on your pickup and drop-off times. If you need to pick up early or return late, you’ll be charged for the additional time.

I only want to rent a tent. Do I have to rent the whole camp kit?
Yes, the full kit must be rented—we do not break apart kits or rent items that are not listed individually.
- However, individual items are available for sale at Yosemite Basecamp! Call ahead for pricing and availability.
- If you don’t want to carry or use certain items from your kit, you’re welcome to leave them in the Rental Shed for the duration of your rental.

What if something is missing or not working when I get to my campsite?
- Check your gear before leaving the Rental Shed! We are not responsible for items accidentally left behind.
- Test and inspect everything before your adventure begins, even if it's new, used, rented, or your own.
- If something isn’t working, call us immediately! We can help troubleshoot, provide instructions, or arrange a replacement if needed.
- We cannot refund rentals for issues that weren’t reported at pickup. Additionally, if you continue using damaged gear without notifying us, you may be charged for repairs or replacements.

Can I get a refund if I didn’t use my rental?
We charge based on your pickup and drop-off times, not usage. However, if you return your rental early, let us know—we may be able to issue a partial refund.

Why do some of my rentals require a $250 Hold and what is that!?
The credit card hold is placed for high value items. This is not a charge and will be automatically released after 7 days if everything is returned in good shape.
- You can always request an expedited release within 24 hours after returning your gear.

What if I accidentally damage my rental?
Honesty is the best policy and, besides, you don't want negative Gear Karma!
- Tell us about the damage as soon as possible - it helps us repair the item before the next guest.
- If we know about an issue in advance, we can often fix it at a lower cost to you. For example, if we catch a small tent tear early, we can patch and seal it instead of charging for a full replacement.
- If damage is discovered during our post-rental inspection and we don’t have time to fix it before the next rental, you could be charged a full replacement fee.
- If the fix is easy enough or if it is normal wear and tear, then you may not be charged anything!

What if I need to extend my rental?
Give us a call as soon as possible! If the gear isn’t reserved for someone else, we can extend your rental and adjust your payment accordingly.

Do you offer delivery or pickup services?
Not at this time! We do offer 24 hour access to our Gear Shed, so you can grab what you need when you need it!

What if I need to cancel my rental?
Then go ahead and cancel! We won't charge you any fees to cancel 24 hours before your rental. If you need to cancel within 24 hours, then you will be charged the first day rental or 50% whichever is less.

Are there any late fees?
No, just the additional rental price. Do note that we will never charge you more than the item(s) is/are worth to replace. It is a total pain in the ass to replace stuff though, so please just bring it back!

Is the gear cleaned between rentals?
Absolutely! Each item gets a full reset! Do note, that our rental reset area is outside, so you may still find a little dirt, dust or grass on the bottom of your tent, but we promise it’s our dirt!

Can I take rental gear outside of Yosemite?
Yeah man, go forth and explore! Just get it back when you say you will so we don’t need to worry about you!

What happens if I don’t return my rentals?
We take several steps to confirm that you picked up your rental. If your gear is not Returned:
- We will attempt to contact you.
- You will continue to be charged for each day the rental is overdue.
- If we cannot reach you and the gear is not returned, we will call the authorities.
- If necessary, we will file theft charges—though, fun fact, we once saved a lost guest through this process!

What happens if I lose a rental item?
We’re gonna charge you for the full price replacement. HOWEVER, if you find it, let us know and we may be able to get you refund if you send it back!

What is this extra fees business?
Our booking platform charges you 6% to book online. If you want to avoid that, then just call and book with us over the phone!

Thank you for booking your fly fishing gear kit(s)! We have included a FAQ below that should answer any questions you have about your rentals! Of course, please reach out if you have any questions!

When can I pick up my rentals?

Your reservation begins at 12:00 AM the day of your rental and is due back by 11:59 on the last day of your rental.

Where are my rentals located?

Your rentals are located in the Rental Shed at the Yosemite Basecamp at 11892 Ponderosa Lane, Groveland, CA. The Rental Shed is located to the left of the Yosemite Basecamp Outfitter - Walk up to the front door of our Yosemite Basecamp and then follow the side walk to the left until it dead-ends at the black door of the Rental Shed!

How do I access the Rental Shed?

Fill out your registration form using the link above. You will receive an email with a unique code and instructions. The email is immediate, so check your spam filter if you did not receive it. Oh and remember to lock the door when you leave!

How do I know which rentals are mine?

Once inside the rental shed you will see whiteboards above each rental bay. Look for your name and take the rentals in that bay. DO NOT TAKE RENTALS THAT ARE NOT LABLED WITH YOUR NAME. You are on camera and will be immediately charged the full price of any rentals taken without permission and a police report will be filed with the Tuolumne County Sheriffs Department.

What if something is missing?

Use the checklist and make sure to do a full inventory of your rental gear before you leave. Once you have left with your gear, you are responsible for returning everything on your checklist. If something is missing immediately tell the desk. If it is after hours, then call the Manager on Duty (MOD). You can reach the MOD at 307.699.0307, but please do not use this number unless it is an after-hours urgent issue - seriously do not call for hiking advice!

What if I don't need everything that I am renting?

Unfortunately, we don't rent customized gear kits just yet, so you are responsible for the full kit when you rent it. You can leave the extra bits in your car or in the rental shed bay, but please understand that you are fully responsible for the entire kit during your rental - even if you leave it in the rental shed. In some cases it may be better to buy what you need instead of renting it.

How do I return my rentals?

You will return your rentals clean and organized. Use the same code and find the gear bay with your name. Double check that your rentals are accounted for and leave! Make sure to lock the door on your way out. Notify us if there are any issues with your gear or any damages sustained while you were out. It is cheaper and easier to fix these issues if we know about them early!

What if I am late returning my rentals?

You will immediately be charged the full price of the rental kit. Once returned, you will be refunded minus the daily cost of rentals, any damages, and any refunds we issued to other guests who are waiting for the kits in your possession.

What if my rentals are not clean or organized when I return them?

Think rental car, AirBNB or some experience where you borrowed something for cash... The same rules apply here. Make sure to throw your trash away, clean your dishes, and put your gear back together or we will add on the cleaning fee to your rental. We're not trying to be mean, but we have gotten some doozies in our day!

What if I lost or damaged something in the rental kit?

You will be immediately charged the full price for the damaged or missing item. Once returned, you will be refunded minus any costs incurred to us due to loss or damage to property. In some circumstances, we will take comparable used gear as replacement for the damaged or lost gear. Please contact the desk for most information.

How do you know if I returned my rentals?

Each person is giving a unique code to the shed, so we know who is entering and exiting the shed at all times. There is a security camera inside and outside of the shed as well. If we see an individual take items that are not theirs, we immediately charge them the full MSRP of the items and we file a police report with the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department. Please note, we will press charges against anyone who intentionally steals from us or our guests.

What if there is another problem with my rental?

We're awesome, but we do make mistakes! Pop into the outfitter and let them know that there is a problem. If the store is closed, then contact the Manager On Duty (MOD). You can reach the MOD at 307.699.0307, but please do not use this number unless it is an after-hours urgent issue - seriously do not call after hours for hiking advice!


Cancellation Policy

Please contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation.

Easy Cancelations Rate
- When available, our easy cancelations rate allows you to cancel your adventure or package up to 24 hours in advance for just a $25.00 processing fee.
- Cancelations within 24 hours will be refunded 50% of the listed price.

Non-Refundable Rate:
- Cancelations made at least 48 hours before scheduled adventure will be refunded 50% of the excursion price.
- Guests cancelling within 48 hours of scheduled adventure and no shows will not be refunded.

Adventure Add-Ons:
- Full refund on any cancellations 24 hours in advance of excursion start time.
- Cancellations within 24 hours will be handled on a case by case basis.

Gear & Bike Rentals
- Full refund on any cancellations 24 hours in advance of excursion start time.
- Cancelations within 24 hours will be refunded 50% of the listed price.

Exceptions:
- You will not be charged a cancellation fee if your trip is cancelled by Echo Adventure Cooperative due to weather, fire, road closures, or guide unavailability.
- You may reschedule your adventure or convert your balance into a gift card free of charge if done within 72 hours of your adventure start time.
- Your Adventure Coordinator will always work with Member-Guides as well as lodging & recreation partners to provide the largest possible refund based on your circumstances; however, we are rarely able to secure a larger refund than is stated above.
- Yelling, disrespecting or threatening your Adventure Coordinator will not result in a larger refund, so we HIGHLY recommend purchasing the easy cancelations rate, buying traveler's insurance, or using a credit card with travel protection to help take the pressure off.
- Review extortion (defined as threatening a negative review or promising a positive review in exchange for refunds or freebies) will not be tolerated and will void all refund eligibility.
