Overview

3 Hours • All Ages • Up to 5 Locations! • Sample the Diversity of our Rich Culinary Heritage!

Duration: 3 hours
Cancellation Summary: 24 hours
Meeting Point: 3rd Block Depot – 316 Chartres Street, New Orleans, LA
Group Size: Maximum 16 people
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
Description: Along with your guide you will visit up to five Locations: classic Creole restaurants, neighborhood sandwich shops, hot sauce bars, artisanal candy stores, and more.

Once inside, you’ll sample different foods that represent the breadth and diversity of our culinary Heritage: dishes like gumbo, boudin, muffulettas, poboys, pralines, and much more.

We cover New Orleans’ various restaurant family dynasties, we discuss recipes old and new, we view restaurants that pre-date the American Civil War, we recommend places to eat and places to shop.

With so many dining options in New Orleans, why not try five different places in one fell swoop?!

Some of the restaurant stops feature fully stocked bars if you’d like to enjoy a cold beverage (adult or otherwise!) during the tour.

The three-hour walking food tour in New Orleans is conducted at a leisurely pace and with small groups (up to 16).

Our menu is designed to highlight the history of New Orleans as it progressed from an Indigenous trading post to Colonial port, and eventually to one of the largest cities in the 19th century United States.

Each dish is delectably unique to Louisiana, and ranges from savory to sweet.

Each of our tour guides are licensed, university-educated, and extremely passionate about our culinary history!

Faqs: Q. How much food is served?
A. Up to 9 samples that amount to a filling lunch.

Q. I want to join your tour, but I don't eat meat. Can I still buy a ticket?
A. Yes, everyone is welcome to buy a ticket, but we do not accommodate dietary restrictions or aversions. Six of the 9 samples will contain meat/seafood. Five of those 6 dishes will contain pork.

Q. I am allergic to shellfish. Can you accommodate that?
A. There are no shellfish served during the tour. However, 2 of the dishes are fried in the same oil as shellfish (shrimp, oysters), so we will want to know if that is problematic for you.

Q. I am allergic to tree nuts. Can you accommodate that?
A. Yes, we can offer a substitute to our 2 dishes with pecans. However, please note that technically there is the chance of cross-contamination with anything prepared in the candy shops we visit.

Q. I am allergic to onions/garlic/peppers/dairy. Can you accommodate that?
A. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate any of those allergies as it would require redesigning nearly the entire menu. For info on other allergies please reach out to us directly on our CONTACT page.

Q. Do my kids need a ticket?
A. There is only one ticket type, and all attendees on the tour require a ticket. However, infants and babies in strollers/carriers who will not be eating or sitting do not require a ticket. Also please note this tour involves being seated and listening quietly to the tour guides for certain periods of time, so consider that in your decision as well. But foodies of all ages are welcome!

Q. How much walking is involved?
A. This tour covers over 1 mile, and is conducted at a moderate pace. Historically, guests with walking difficulties have struggled to keep pace with and finish the tour.

Q. Are the venues wheelchair accessible?
A. Yes, all of the venues are wheelchair accessible. However, please notify us in advance so we can prepare them, as some venues have to manually set up their ramps.

Q. Are alcoholic beverages available for purchase along the way?
A. Yes, 2 of the venues feature fully stocked bars, and there are several bars on the route. "To go" adult drinks are totally legal throughout the entire city of New Orleans.

Q. What happens if it rains?
A. We conduct the tour rain or shine. During more severe weather incidents we review on a case by case basis. If we are forced to cancel we provide full refunds.

Q. I missed my flight / broke my leg / got food poisoning / flight was canceled / etc., can I get a refund or reschedule?
A. We provide a 100% refund for any cancellation made 24 hours or more prior to a tour. Within 24 hours we do not provide refunds or reschedules, regardless of circumstance. This is not negotiable.
