Description: Freediving is a journey — not a race. At Live Free Diving, we’ve reimagined the Level 1 course to make freediving more accessible, patient, and empowering for every student. Whether you’re a confident water person or taking your first steps into the ocean, our goal is to help you feel safe, supported, and inspired.
Your experience begins with a Day 1 classroom and pool session, where we focus on the foundations of breathing, safety, equalization, and relaxation. After registering, you’ll receive access to PADI eLearning materials, so you can study at your own pace and arrive prepared and confident.
Following your pool session, our instructors will assess your comfort level and guide you toward one of two tailored learning Paths:
- Blue Heron Bridge Pathway
- Boat Pathway
What is Included: - PADI eLearning materials
- Classroom instruction (theory) on freediving fundamentals
- Confined water training (pool session)
- Open water training at Blue Heron Bridge or offshore boat (boat fee not included)
- Professional instruction and in-water safety support

Itinerary: ###Day 1
We will start the morning off with introductions and light stretching, followed by a confined water session in the pool. We will cover safety skills & your role as a buddy, static apnea, dynamic apnea and how to make a proper water entry. After we will take a lunch break and discuss theory.
Following your pool session, our instructors will assess your comfort level and guide you toward one of two tailored learning paths for day 2
Day 2
Blue Heron Bridge
Perfect for newer students or anyone seeking a gentler introduction. On Day 2, you’ll practice equalization, free immersion, and constant weight techniques in calm, clear 10–18 ft water at the Blue Heron Bridge. The shallow, biodiverse environment builds confidence and helps you develop comfort and body awareness before heading deeper.

Boat
For confident and experienced water people ready to explore deeper water, your open water session takes place aboard Fins Up 2, our private freediving vessel. Here, you’ll practice line diving in crystal-clear conditions and progress toward your certification depth of 10–16 meters (33–55 feet) with full instructor supervision. Additional $150 boat fee required
What to Bring: - Mask, snorkel, bi-fins (available to rent)
- Wetsuit, shorty or appropriate exposure protection (wetsuits available to rent)

NOTE:
If you answer YES to certain questions on the MEDICAL FORM your doctor must, as a safety precaution, assess the condition as it relates to freediving and sign a medical form that confirms you’re fit to dive. Please print out or email a copy to your doctor for a signature. This must be completed BEFORE the start of the course! So please give yourself plenty of time to review the document IN CASE YOU DO NEED MEDICAL CLEARANCE.
IF YOU NEED MEDICAL CLEARANCE AND YOU DO NOT RECIVE A DOCTORS APPROVAL YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONFINED WATER OR OPEN WATER PORTIONS OF THE COURSE. You will need to pay a $150 rescheduling fee and can reschedule during availability.

eLearning Knowledge Reviews & Final Exam
You will receive a separate email shortly with a link to complete your online course component.This typically takes a few hours to complete. Failure to complete means you will NOT be able to participate in Open Water Sessions.
Equalization Prep!
Being able to frenzel equalize is the KEY to success in freediving. To some people, it comes naturally, to others it takes A LOT of practice. In order to ensure your success in the course, PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO on how to frenzel equalize. Please get familiar with this method and PRACTICE! If you're still having trouble or are not sure if you are doing it properly, please reach out to us asap so we can help get you sorted BEFORE the start of the course!

If you rented gear from us, we will bring all the rented items to class, so you don't have to worry about a thing! If you want to add on any items to your reservation, please contact us at least 24 hours before the start of the course so we have enough time to organize and prep the rental gear for you.

Cancellation Policy
Because Live Free Diving has the highest commitment to quality courses with small instructor to student ratios we are unable to issue refunds for cancellations on the course. This course is non-refundable under any circumstances. However, we can reschedule your course date with administration fees as follows:

Reservations can be re-scheduled with no fee with at least 14 days’ notice prior to your scheduled class to allow us time to book other clients.

Re-scheduling reservations less than 14 days notice: Students may reschedule their class for a $150 “rebooking fee”, which will be processed each time a course or portion of a course is rescheduled. You can reschedule during availability.

At least a 50% deposit is required in order to secure your spot. Remaining balance is due by the start of the course. Your card will automatically be charged the remaining balance.

No shows will be charged the full price of the activity, tour, or training. No refunds will be given due to the potential loss of business/expenses incurred.

If you need MEDICAL CLEARANCE and fail to receive a signature from your doctor, you WILL NOT be able to participate in the pool or confined water sessions. You will need to pay a $150 rescheduling fee and will need to reschedule during availability and when you have the proper documentation and clearance.

Although we plan our open water dive sessions from a boat, please note that open water sessions are weather dependent and may change. In the event of inclement weather and/or sea conditions, or conditions beyond our control, this may force us to dive in an alternate land based location for the sole purpose of being able to complete your dive training. In this case, open water sessions will be held at Tiger Tail Lake.

Cancellations due to weather will be determined by the captain. The decision to cancel a trip due to bad weather usually cannot be made until a few days before. We will cancel all trips, and go to alternative in land site when rough seas and high winds are in the forecast or small craft advisories are in effect.

Due to the limited capacity of each class, we do not offer refunds or credits if you only complete a portion of the class. If you need to complete the open water session again, you will need to pay the boat fee.

If you need additional trips due to seasickness or inability to complete the necessary skills, you will be charge just the boat fee and can reschedule makeup sessions during availability.

For private sessions, cancellations must be made at least 14 days prior to the scheduled date’(s) for the deposit to be refundable. Deposits made in advanced will be subject to a flat rate cancellation fee of $250. This fee will be applied to administrative expenses accrued by LFD and its affiliates.

If renting gear, customer agrees to reimburse Live Free Diving for the loss or breakage of any and all equipment at the current replacement value.
We are a team of two who specialize in small intimate group settings, in order to keep our business sustainable and activities enjoyable we must adhere to a stern cancellation policy. Thank you for understanding.
