Lindores Abbey History Tour
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a whisky aficionado, or simply seeking a unique cultural experience, our History Tours at Lindores Abbey Distillery promise an unforgettable journey through Scotland’s illustrious past.
Nestled in the picturesque heart of Scotland, Lindores Abbey was more than just a religious sanctuary; it was a hub of hospitality and royal encounters. Walk in the footsteps of illustrious monarchs like David II, Edward I of England, and Robert the Bruce, who graced these sacred grounds.
Relive the legendary visit of Scotland’s greatest national hero, William Wallace, who found respite within these ancient walls. Imagine the historic moment when three valiant knights pledged their unwavering loyalty to The Bruce in this hallowed space.
As you wander through the serene ruins of the ancient abbey, you’ll hear tales of medieval monks who first distilled ‘aqua vitae’—the water of life—on these very grounds in 1494, marking the inception of whisky as we know it today.
No visit would be complete without a tasting session. In our picturesque Courtyard, you’ll have the opportunity to sample our very own award winning Aqua Vitae, each sip a testament to our commitment to quality and heritage. Let the flavours transport you back in time, offering a sensory connection to the past and a glimpse into the future of Scotch whisky.
History Tours cost just £15 and everyone is welcome (we even welcome well behaved dog owners along with their four legged friends).
