About
Sail beautiful Kailua on a Waʻa Peʻa (Hawaiian Sailing Canoe); a cultural craft designed and used by the Hawaiians to navigate and sail the ocean. Join our watermen, learning about the history and cultural significance of the canoe and Kailua to the Hawaiian and Polynesian people, as we journey to our offshore islets. It's a Hawaiian experience unlike any other!
During the tour, explore the ecosystem as we move through the glistening, clear coral reefs of Kailua with honu (sea turtles) and other native species of fishes. Enjoy the views of the Ko’olau range surrounding us as our watermen tell the mo’olelo (stories) of various Ahupua’a (land divisions) that make up Kailua and the Ka Iwi coastline. View and learn of the indigenous seabirds, such as ‘Iwa (Great Frigate) and ‘Ua‘u kani (Wedge-tail Shearwater), that call the sanctuary island home.

Max allotted number of guests per canoe - 6. For parties larger than 6, you will be placed in two separate canoes.

Arrive and check-in with your guide 15 minutes BEFORE your tour departure time at the designated meeting spot at Kailua Beach Park (526 Kawailoa Rd, Kailua, HI) - on the shoreline at the end of the canal. Click our map to see exactly where to meet us to begin your tour.

To prepare for the upcoming day, please read the following email in its entirety:
For all guests joining us, a completed and signed online electronic waiver is required to be submitted at least 24 hours prior to arriving to the tour.
YOU WILL GET WET! Wear your swimsuits or comfortable clothing AND non slip footwear you can get wet in. You may also bring a towel And don't forget water and sunscreen!
We provide "dry bags" to store your small personal items in. However, we can not guarantee your items will stay completely dry.
Please remember to PACK LIGHT as space is LIMITED ON THE CANOE - We do not have lockers, so you may be asked to leave items in your vehicle.

Tipping your guides is not required, but very much appreciated
Please plan your route BEFORE leaving for your tour meeting location. Allow yourself extra travel time due to traffic, unexpected delays and to find parking. Free public parking is available on site, at Kailua Beach Park, on either side of the canal. However, it is first come, first served, so plan accordingly to assure you arrive on time for your tour.
As stated in our policy, in order to secure your seat(s), received safety and tour instructions, and prepare for departure, participants are required to check-in with their guide at the meeting location 15 minutes before tour departure time - We do not delay tours**. Guests who arrive late or after departure, or fail to join the tour, for whatever reason, will not receive a refund, partial or whole, or be rescheduled to another tour.
Cancellation Policy
KAILUA OCEAN ADVENTURES CANCELLATION POLICY:
All tour cancellations are non-refundable. Instead of a refund, guests will receive a credit or gift card for the full amount paid, which can be used for future bookings.
Cancellations by Guests
• Guests who wish to cancel must contact our office at least 21 days prior to the scheduled tour departure.
• No refunds, partial or whole, will be issued under any circumstances. All refunds will be in the form of a credit or gift card.
• We do not accept cancellation requests via email, text, or any other method—only phone cancellations will be honored.
• There is no grace period for cancellations; all bookings are final unless canceled within the 21-day window.
Missed Tours
• Guests who arrive late, fail to join the tour, or miss their scheduled departure for any reason will not receive a refund, credit, or rescheduling.
Cancellations by KOA
• We reserve the right to alter or cancel tours due to weather, group size limitations, or other unforeseen circumstances.
• If KOA cancels a tour, we will make every effort to reschedule within the guest’s availability.
• If rescheduling is not possible, a full refund will be issued.
• Refunds may take 5-10 business days to process from the time of cancellation.
By booking a tour, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
To assure all guests receive a safe and quality experience, Kailua Ocean Adventures tours are set to a strict schedule. Please be courteous to other guests and arrive on time.
