What to bring
- Camera (with plenty of space for lots of photos)
- Sunscreen
- Bug Spray
- Hiking shoes or comfortable walking shoes
- Shorts or comfortable pants
- Lightweight jacket or raincoat
- Extra set of clothes to change in case it rains.
Things to Consider
- Park is open from 8am - 5pm everyday.
- If you selected the buffet option, it is available between 11am – 4pm.
- We recommend a minimum of 2 hours for your visit. However, if you would like to see every trail and thoroughly enjoy the time spent in the Aviary, the Butterfly Observatory, Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, Jungle Cats Exhibit, Frog Exhibit, Tica House and Trout Lake, you will probably want to stay the whole day.
- Please keep in mind that the park ranges in altitude from 5,200 feet to 4,200 feet so it can get chilly when the clouds roll in.

- Our last shuttle pick up from the exit trail is at 5:00 p.m.
- Directions From the Airport Area or San José going through Alajuela: Take the Pan-American Highway towards the International Airport and take the Alajuela exit. Continue straight on this road for 12 miles following the signs for Poás Volcano. At the dead end three-way intersection where you see Jaulares Restaurant take a right. Proceed for one mile to the town of Poasito and make another right at the intersection where it says Heredia – Vara Blanca – Sarapiqui. Make a left at the gas station at Vara Blanca and proceed for 3 miles. Waterfall Gardens is on the left.
