Description: Miami is full of diversity and has some rich history. When people think of Miami, the Latin influence usually comes to mind first. But a part of this history comes from the African-American/Caribbean-American cultures that run through the veins of the city. Book this experience to learn just how rich it is.
We will visit historic Overtown where I’ll introduce you a lot of history that many don't even know exist in Miami. You'll learn of Miami’s role in the civil rights movement, the city’s historically Black beach, the city’s first Black Millionaire, the hangout for greats like Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X and Sammy Davis, Jr., and the first Black luxury resort that never happened.
During this experience, you’ll also get to enjoy a specialty menu including some of Miami’s best soul food. You won't find many Black history tours in Miami and I'm happy to share this cultural experience with you.Miami's Overtown neighborhood is the historic heart of the city's African-American and Caribbean-American communities.

Additional Info
There is ample parking available at our starting location, the Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum (480 NW 11th St, Miami, 33136); a location that has a unique history all its own.
As this is a walking tour...and we're in Miami, I always recommend bringing a small umbrella if you have it. The umbrella can serve as a protectant from any potential rain or the infamous Miami heat. Not required, but definitely suggested.
This experience also involves a few locals and exhibits that help make this experience extra special. I encourage you have a little (or a lot) on hand to tip/donate and show them some love too!
Our starting point is not our ending point! If you drive, please be prepared for a short walk back to our starting location (about .3 miles or a 2 min walk) have transportation pick you up at our ending point.
I am often running my mouth nonstop about Miami history and rarely get photos/videos. I encourage you to take a few of your own and feel free to tag @key2mia/#key2mia on social!
