Description: Open water is the entry-level certification to become a scuba diver. Open water course certifies you to dive up to 60 feet as an autonomous diver. We offer NAUI and PADI options to learn open water and display all prices below. We encourage you to call us at 831-275-0142 or email us at info@centralcoastscuba.com to book.
Course Description
The Open Water course includes the following Components:
- E-learning course (PADI or NAUI)
- Classroom training
- Confined water (pool) training session
- Four open water (ocean) dives at San Carlos Beach
Our instructors are dedicated to highly personalized, patient support.
Typical Schedule
Because we offer private courses, this schedule is fully customizable based on your needs.
- E-Learning is completed at your own pace prior to the pool session
- Day 1: classroom and pool session (typically 6-8 hours)
- Day 2: open water dives 1 & 2 (typically 5 hours)
- Day 3: open water dives 3 & 4 (typically 5 hours)
Cost
We charge a course fee that includes all classroom, pool, and open water training. In addition, you need to purchase either the NAUI or PADI E-learning and rent all necessary Equipment: mask, fins, snorkel, hood, gloves, booties, wetsuit, BCD, tanks, and weights. We highly encourage you purchase a mask, snorkel, fins, and booties.
- Course Fee: $800 (for one diver, private) or $600 (for two or more divers, private)
- E-Learning: NAUI $100 or PADI $246
- Rental Equipment: Typically $60-120/day. We can help you secure discounted rental gear from a local Monterey shop. Local shops will typically also provide discounts to purchase your dive gear.

Congratulations on taking the first step to become an autonomous scuba diver! Our instructor will reach out to you soon to discuss whether you want to pursue a NAUI or PADI certification, finalize a schedule for the course, and to answer any of your questions. The instructor will also assist you with securing rental equipment for the course.

Cancellation Policy
We offer full refunds for bookings cancelled more than 72 hours in advance. We offer a 50% refund for bookings cancelled between 72-24 hours in advance. We do not offer refunds for bookings cancelled less than 24 hours before the course. In the event of unsafe diving conditions, we will offer you a rescheduled dive or credit with Central Coast Scuba.
