Description
Get yourself back into underwater world with our Padi Re-Activate Course! Only taking about 1.5 hours to complete, why not go for a dive right after refreshing your skills! Hilo has a lot of fantastic dive sites to choose from, for beginners and advanced divers, so why not book a shore or boat dive right afterwards! Our experienced divemasters and instructors will make sure you have a safe and fun experience during and after your refresher!
The SCUBA Re-Activate course consists of a small eLearning course before attending, so you can quickly refresh your diving knowledge! Once you are done with your eLearning you can get started in the pool with your Divemaster and practice assembling your gear, predive safety checks, mask removal and replacement, emergency weight drop, neutral buoyancy and hovering, and alternate air source use and ascent, and any other underwater skills you want to practice! After that you will receive a brand new ReActivated certification card from PADI!
Please Note
If you do not finish your eLearning and paperwork, you will not receive a new certification card until it is complete. If you do not complete your paperwork before attending it will come out of your class time and will be an extra $50 to make up for the wasted time.

- Students must show up at least 30 minutes prior to course departure fully prepared (eLearning, PADI Medical and Liability paperwork, and Hilo Ocean Adventures student learning agreement completed), otherwise students will be subject to a $50 make-up fee or a $100 rescheduling fee if you are not medically fit to dive.

Elevation Matters, Plan Accordingly
You planned on diving on the Big island of Hawaii which is the world’s largest volcano and largest mountain in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Firstly, the rules are fairly simple but they do not only apply to flying. They also apply to driving. If you dive in the ocean (sea level) and then drive to almost any other part of the Big Island of Hawaii you will exceed 2000ft in altitude. In fact it’s possible to climb from sea level to 2,000 feet in about 14 minutes by car!
Flying After Diving Rules
-1 dive on one day – wait 12 hours.
-Multiple days or multiple dives – wait 18 hours.
-Mandatory Decompression dive – wait 24 hours.
-the same before exceeding 2000 feet or 600 meters elevation by car!
What If Scenarios
If you may be experiencing decompression sickness (DCS) symptoms it is recommended not to fly. It’s likely worse to fly with DCS than it is to develop DCS symptoms on a flight.
If you’ve just done a shallow dive and then plan to go to 1900 feet elevation it’s considered safe by the recommended guidelines, but what if you do a deep dive? Is it then safe to go to 1900 feet but not 2100 feet? It’s always best to err on the side of caution if you’re attempting to avoid DCS. Remember these are recommendations and they will not always be 100% certain or safe. It is still possible to get bent (DCS) when following all of the rules, however these guidelines have been put in place with lot’s of data backing them up.
In general it’s always better to wait longer before going to altitude. The longer you wait the lower the likelihood of decompression illness, please plan to stay in the Hilo Area after your dive with us for the amount of time needed.
