Description: Join our most popular tour and experience the perfect combination of hiking, nature, water activities, and relaxation in Puerto Rico's majestic El Yunque Rainforest. Explore this natural wonder led by passionate local guides who are eager to share their island with you!

-Hike through lush flora and fauna, and wade through rivers

What is Included: -Fully guided tours of El Yunque National Rainforest.

What is not Included: -Transportation (Guests MUST have Rental Car – NO Taxi or Ubers!).

Itinerary: -Fruit Stand Meet-Up: Gather at a local fruit stand for a selection of fresh fruits (included).

-Optional Treats: Opportunity to purchase local fritters and fruit smoothies.

-El Yunque Arrival: (Note: Own transportation required, no taxis or Uber). Meet your guides at the rainforest’s edge, gear up, and brief on safety and day’s plan.

-Rainforest Immersion: Embark on a 30-minute hike to our first enchanting Stop: a natural pool.

-Further Exploration: Continue with a 15-minute hike to our second oasis, featuring waterfalls and natural waterslides!

-Continued Adventure: Featuring a rope swing and cliff-jumping.

-Return Journey: A 30-minute hike back for a refreshing rinse and change.

At each rainforest location, ample time is dedicated to swimming, relaxing, and absorbing the breathtaking vistas.

Total Duration: Approximately 4 hours. Hiking times may vary depending on activity level and the size of the group.

Here, your Puerto Rican guide will hand-pick an assortment of delectable local fruits for your tour (included in the experience). Journey to El Yunque’s Heart: From Luquillo, we venture to Puerto Rico’s crowning natural Marvel: the east side of El Yunque Rainforest. Celebrated as a gem in the U.S. National Forest System, its allure is unmistakable. Our interpretive trek unveils the rainforest’s lush trails and its unique wildlife, offering a glimpse into a world found only in Puerto Rico.

Rainforest Revelries: Awaiting deeper in El Yunque is a wonderland of waterfalls, serene pools, and a natural waterslide. Embrace your adventurous side with a rope swing or cliff jumping, or simply relish the tranquility, surrounded by the rainforest’s melody, savoring the fresh fruit selected by your guide.

An Unforgettable Caribbean Embrace: This tour is more than an exploration; it’s an invitation to experience Puerto Rico’s majestic rainforest and its heartwarming hospitality. Join us for an adventure that will linger in your memories forever!

Meet at "Frutera Flores" fruit stand in Luquillo; be on time as there is a 15-minute maximum wait period

What to Bring: -Cell phone (in the event that we need to contact you or you need to contact us prior to the excursion)
-Closed-toe shoes that can get wet/dirty, have good grip for hiking on wet surfaces, and provide comfort and support (no sandals, water shoes, or flip flops)
-Comfortable hiking clothes that you don’t mind getting wet and dirty.
-Bathing suit (already on)
-Towel and change of clothes
-Water bottle (provided if you do not have one)

Note: Items can be left in your vehicle during the El Yunque Rainforest Tour.
Special Requirements: Language, age, and weight requirements

-All guests must be able to communicate in English or Spanish.
-The minimum age is 8 years old.
-The maximum age is 70 years old.
-Maximum weight limit 240 lbs.
-Guests that show signs of intoxication by drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to participate.

SATURDAY TOUR DETAILS: Saturday’s tour is longer (approximately 1 additional hour) and more strenuous than Sunday – Friday. It’s very important that you are able to comply with all of the tour restrictions, have a strong physical fitness level and are able to bring your knees up to your chest.
Restrictions: Difficulty level

The difficulty level of this excursion is moderate to strenuous, depending on your physical fitness level. It is essential that you are in good physical condition to participate and enjoy yourself.

The terrain in the rainforest can be muddy, slippery, and uneven, and the hike will include river-wading, climbing large rocks, and steep inclines. This excursion is recommended for guests with an active lifestyle.

Due to the challenging nature of this tour, the following guests cannot Participate:

-Guests with neck, back, arm, or leg problems, or those wearing casts.
-Guests who have epilepsy, heart conditions, dizziness or vertigo.
-Guests with hearing or visual impairment.
-Guests who have undergone recent surgery.
-Pregnant women.

Please notify us ahead of time if you have any questions or concerns about your health or physical condition for the excursion.
Extras: Minimum tour size

The El Yunque Rainforest tour requires at least eight guests to provide the tour. In the event this minimum is not met, we will call one or two days prior to the excursion to go over alternative options (i.e., reschedule for a different date or time that has the minimum requirement, payment options for a private excursion, or cancel without penalty).

Consider that on the day of your excursion we will be there, on site, waiting, and ready to serve you. Regardless of the cancellation reason, our time and fixed costs are already invested; we may even have turned down other customers by holding your space. Thank you for understanding!

What to Wear & Bring

Items that can be left in the vehicle during Rainforest Tour

  • Comfortable hiking clothes and/or bathing suit
  • Closed-toed shoes with good grip for hiking on wet surfaces, and that provide support (no crocs, sandals, water shoes or flip flops)
  • Water bottle
  • Towel, change of clothes and dry shoes for after the tour
  • Cash (gratuities not included but appreciated)
  • Cell phone on file (in the event we need to contact you or you need to contact us prior to the excursion)

Note: You will get completely submerged in water and most likely muddy while on this tour.

Restrictions

Saturday Tours Saturday's tour is longer (approximately 1 hour) and more strenuous than Sunday - Friday. It's very important that you are able to comply with all of the tour restrictions, have a strong physical fitness level and are able to bring your knees up to your chest.

Participation Minimum

This excursion requires a minimum of at least eight guests requesting in order to provide the tour. In the event this minimum is not met, we will call one or two days prior to the excursion to go over alternative options (i.e. reschedule for a different date or time that has the minimum requirement, payment options for a private excursion, or cancel without penalty).

Cancelation Policy

STANDARD
We have a 48-hour cancellation policy for all of our excursions. Up until 48 hours before check-in time, you may change your reservation or cancel it for a full refund. Cancellations made in less than 48 hours before check-in time, late arrivals, and “no-shows” will maintain a full charge. All cancellations must be made directly with Island Journeys by telephone or email.

GROUPS OF 10 OR MORE GUESTS
Groups of 10 or more guests must cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the excursion in order to receive a full refund. Cancellations of groups made in less than 2 weeks prior to the excursion date will maintain a full charge on any spaces we are unable to resell. Guests that are no-shows or late arrivals will receive the full charge.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
If we are forced to cancel a tour due to weather conditions, we will offer you the solution that best fits your needs and upon availability, including rescheduling to another date, booking another tour, or full refund. That said, be aware that we are the ones that determine cancellations due to weather conditions. Please do not make the mistake of deciding not to attend because you think the weather might not be acceptable, as you will still be charged if the excursion goes out. If you ever have a question about the weather conditions, please call us to confirm.

If we need to cancel an excursion due to weather conditions we will call to notify you as soon as possible, however please note that due to the sometimes unpredictable weather in the Caribbean, cancellations may be done the same day on site.

Please note that there is a 15-minute maximum wait period at the "Frutera Flores" Fruit Stand, so it is very important that you are at this location on time. If for any reason you are delayed, please contact Island Journeys’ main office at 787-978-8080.

Due to the unique nature and small size of our groups, we are forced to remain firm about our cancellation policy. Consider that on the day of your excursion we will be there, on site, waiting, and ready to serve you. Regardless of the cancellation reason, our time and fixed costs are already invested; we may even have turned down other customers by holding your space. Thank you for understanding!

This policy also applies to cruise ship passengers.
