Additional Info
Important Things to Know:
- Please arrive to our facility by the start of your tour time. We will be getting you geared up in your wetsuits at the tour start time. Upon your arrival please check-in at the counter so we can verify that you've signed the electronic waivers and watched the Manatee Manners video. You will receive a separate email with the electronic waiver. [Here is a link for the Manatee Manners video[(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP3Erf3Kc2Y)
- All necessary gear is provided for this tour. If you would like to bring your own wetsuit and snorkel mask, you are welcome to do so.
- We do have changing rooms, but if you arrive with your bathing suits on underneath your clothes you'll be able to quickly get changed into your wetsuits.
- Be sure to bring a towel.
- You also may want to wear flip-flops or other shoes for the walk down the dock of the boat.
- During the cooler months, a sweatshirt or a jacket is recommended for the short boat ride back to the dock after your swim. Even though the water temperature remains 72 degrees year-round, the air temperature can be cold. Having something warm to put on after your swim will be nice.
- Per the requirements of our special use permit, we need to stay floating on the surface of the water and keep our legs from dangling down in the way of the manatees. With that in mind all guests will wear a provided wetsuit and have a swimming pool noodle to assist with staying afloat on the surface.
- You are welcome to bring your own camera. We just ask that it is not on a long selfie stick. Also, Fish and Wildlife does not allow the use of flashes in the Refuge.
- If you're a professional photographer who intends to use your pictures for commercial purposes, you will need to get a permit from the US Fish and Wildlife Service to do so. You can contact us for additional information.
- In order to ensure all of our guests have the best chance for an amazing experience, we require guests traveling with a child under the age of 3 or with a beloved pet book a private tour. This includes service animals.
