Overview
Not a Food Tour but an Introduction to the Exciting Borough of Queens!
Duration: 4
Meeting Point: 39-15 Main St, Flushing, NY 11354
Group Size: 10
Description: Queens often gets left out of the NYC spotlight, but that’s exactly why this tour matters. We’ll move through three very different neighborhoods; Flushing, Jackson Heights, and Forest Hills and look at what makes each one stand out.
We start in Flushing, where 17th-century Dutch and Quaker settlers once fought for religious freedom. Today it’s one of the most dynamic Asian-American communities in the country, layered over deep colonial roots.
Next Up: Jackson Heights, once built for the elite, now a colorful hub of Latin American and South Asian life. It’s loud, lively, and full of surprises if you know where to look.
We wrap in Forest Hills, a neighborhood designed as NYC’s first garden community - once home to the US Open, the Ramones, and a vision of peaceful, suburban-style living in the middle of the city.
This tour isn’t about checking off famous landmarks. It’s about understanding the real, lived-in New York and why Queens isn’t just worth visiting, it’s essential.
What is Included: NYC Licensed tour guide
What is not Included: Food is not included. We will suggest some places to grab a bite so it is a good idea to bring some cash as not all places will accept card payments.
Itinerary: 1) Begin in Flushing near the historic Bowne House. Explore traces of early Dutch and Quaker influence
3) Continue to Jackson Heights and discuss immigration, density, and transformation. Walk through cultural landmarks and residential pockets
5) Travel to Forest Hills and explore the garden city vision
Talk tennis, music history, and neighborhood evolution
End the tour near Forest Hills Gardens or Station Square
Highlights: This isn’t a food tour; it’s an introduction to the borough of Queens. From colonial roots in Flushing to immigrant life in Jackson Heights and garden living in Forest Hills, this walk offers a real-world glimpse into one of NYC’s most overlooked, and most fascinating, boroughs.
