## More about this on-demand virtual talk and tour includes a pdf of the photo stops for you to visit on your Own:
From the days of Sex and the City’s popularity when the Meatpacking District was a bit seedy, to the glitz and glamor of the Hudson Yards has been an evolution of inspiration, imagination, patience and fortitude. This area is a wonderful example of public and private partnerships working together to create a new way for New Yorker’s and visitors to experience the City. The landscape of the High Line has been designed to change with the seasons, so every visit becomes a unique experience. This talk will show the history of the neighborhood from the 1800’s and the changes that have led to the starchitecture that has been built along the High Line. Hudson Yards is the largest private construction project in the history of the United States. You’ll hear why this complex has created controversial discussions about what a neighborhood is and isn’t, and what it should be from an urban design standpoint.
This 108-minute presentation uses over 100 images taking you on an in-depth visual journey learning about the history of freight transportation along the Hudson River and the conversion into a linear elevated park. Then, we'll take a virtual tour from Gansevoort Street to the new Hudson Yards neighborhood, block by block viewing the changes in both the new architecture and the effects on the neighborhoods. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a local New Yorker, gain an insider’s perspective on makes New York so special.
