Overview
3-5 Hour Tour • Ages 10+
Welcome to Hawaii's premier canyoneering experience!
About
Duration: 3–5 Hours
Operated by Island Mountain Guides LLC, Hawaii's premiere rope-based adventure company. This is the perfect tour for adventure seekers who like a more immersive experience. You know who you are!
Start your day with equipment outfitting and training from our team of certified guides before embarking on an adventure like no other! Follow the Umauma River as it descends 5 waterfalls up to 60 feet. Rappel 4 times up to 150ft. Learn and use specialized canyoneering techniques, taking in the dramatic contrasts of wild Hawaiian rivers as you swim the pools between waterfalls.
Before booking, it is important to know that this tour is a step up in physicality and commitment from other waterfall rappelling options in Hawaii. That being said, this experience is entirely beginner-accessible and fun for all ages and experience levels.
This tour can only be operated during low water conditions. During seasonal high water, this tour will occur at one of our other locations in the area. Conditions vary during the rainy season, and rain does not always mean high water conditions are present. If the water is too high your guide will contact you before the tour to coordinate logistics. If the tour operates at a less expensive site, you will be refunded the price difference. If you are not interested in participating in the tour at the new site, we will offer a future booking credit. High water conditions are most common in mid-November and April.
All gear is provided, and no experience is necessary. This is a family-friendly experience geared for the more adventurous traveler. While friendly for all experience levels, the ability to swim is required.

WHAT TO BRING:
- Wear clothes that you are okay getting wet and muddy.
- For men, swim trunks or board shorts tend to work best under a harness.
- For women, longer shorts or leggings are best. If shorts are too short, the harness can chafe the legs. No skirts or dresses as they do not work with the harness
- Shirts should be relatively tight fighting so that they do not get caught in the friction device.
- Long hair needs to be pulled back in a ponytail, braid or bun.
- In winter months, or during rainy weather, a light raincoat or wetsuit top is recommended.
- Shoes provided
- Wetsuits available on cold days
- Bug repellent
