  • 2 hour FREE Sanctuary Tour

About

Thank you for your interest in volunteer project days at Magical Creatures! Each Saturday, we host project days for new or existing volunteers who would like to join us for special projects around the sanctuary. Examples include deep cleaning, fence repairs, mulching and gardening, building, painting, and of course lots of cuddles with our animals. Regardless of your skills, there’s always something to do around here!

Spaces are limited, and reservations are required. Minimum age for project days is 14, and minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering. Volunteer project days are held rain or shine, except in the case of severe weather.

During the 2-hour tour that follows, you will be taken from species to species and enter the pastures and yards with many of our residents. We share the residents' rescue stories, information about the various species of farmed animals, and the industries they came from. There are lots of opportunities throughout the tour for interaction with our magical creatures :)

We are located outside of Laupahoehoe on the east side of Hawaii's Big Island. You will receive an automated confirmation email immediately after booking with our exact location and final details.

Shhhhhh! We're top secret: Please note that we do not make our specific location known to the public. We do this to prevent people from using our gate as a place to abandon animals that we cannot take in. So, please be sure not to share our address or our GPS pin.

A few things to keep in mind for your visit:

CLOTHES: Please wear clothes and shoes that you don’t mind if they get dirty! Close-toed shoes are recommended. In the case of light rain, please wear something with a hood because umbrellas frighten some of the residents.

FACILITIES:
- We do not have a public bathroom at this time, so please plan ahead. We do, however, have a public sink and hand sanitizer.
- If you plan to eat during the tour, out of respect for our residents, we kindly ask that the food be vegan.
- Cell phone service in the area is poor so ensure you have the directions loaded before you leave.
- Be prepared for a very magical place and a memorable experience!

COVID POLICY: Our tours follow CDC guidelines for all visits. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

If you need to reach us on the day of the tour, please feel free to call or text us at (808) 758-7500 ext 9.

We look forward to meeting you!
