About
Our “Wild & Scenic Rainforest Nature Walk to River Adventure” is an easy to moderate nature walk through Angelito Trail into the interior of the only Tropical Rainforest in the U.S. Forestry system!
Locally known as the “El Yunque National Forest” 28,000 acres of lush plants, hardwood trees, cloud forests, dwarf forest, rivers, waterfalls, birds, insects, lizards and beautiful flowers along with a rich culture and historical background make for an unforgettable rainforest nature walk adventure to Las Damas natural pool where we can enjoy the river, weather permitting.
Our guides will teach you about Puerto Rico rainforest facts, flora, fauna, history, culture and outdoor ethics, while you see, hear, smell, and experience the beautiful sights and sound of the rainforest!

Important Notes:
- Guests must consider their physical fitness level and medical history when determining whether this tour is appropriate.
- Commentary will be focused on hurricanes and their effects on the rainforest pre and post, flora, fauna, history and culture.
- Pregnant women or guests with limited mobility should not select this tour.
- Backpack, towel, snack and water bottle provided.
- Trails may be muddy.
- Waivers and safety information will be completed.
Special Notes:
Guests need to be in hiking shoes, walking shoes that can get dirty, flat soled shoes make better contact to the slippery rocks and muddy areas of the trail!
Guests should come with some type of water shoes that will allow them to walk into the river and navigate over the rocks, along with swimsuits if choosing to take a dip.
APPROXIMATE ITINERARY:
- 9:15 am - Check in at Angelito Trail
- 9:30 am - Tour Start Time
- 9:30 am to 10:00 am - Waivers singing, group safety and pre-walk orientation.
- 10:00 am to 12:00 pm - On trail tour duration (Including about 30 minutes walk down on Angelito Trail, several stops along the trail for commentary and interpretation of the natural areas, approximately 30 minutes at Las Damas pool on the Mameyes river, for swimming weather permitting, enjoy snacks and water, walk back to the Angelito Trailhead and parking area).

What To Bring & What to Leave Behind:
To bring:
• Lightweight clothing and a change of dry clothes for the ride back to the hotel, as it is a “RAINFOREST” it could rain during the tour.
• Lightweight walking shoes or hiking boots, sandals with straps or water shoes which work great at the rocky entry into the waterfall.
• Waterproof cameras, cameras (EYT will not be responsible for equipment your bring).
Leave behind: The following are only suggestions!
• Digital cameras or video if not waterproof, it does rain regularly.
• Paper documentation important to your vacation, passports, boarding passes, birth certificates or any others that you do not want to get wet.
• Large sums of money, expensive or important jewelry, anything that is looped, loose or dangling.
• Anything that you would not want to lose, leave behind in a rental car or aboard the tour bus.
What if the weather forecast is bad?
EYT monitors weather conditions daily, safety should always be first! We follow NOAA, Wunderground, and Weather.com if any of the two forecasts the following, 50% or higher threat for rain, winds exceeding 18 knots or potential for thunderstorms we will cancel the tour for that day. One of our representatives will contact you via email, text or phone to advise of cancellation and offer to reschedule if possible. If you are unable to reschedule or the weather does not improve during your stay, we will refund your booking cost.

The trail is located on Road 988, which is a left turn just a little after El Portal Visitors center on Road 191. You will find the trail on the right side of the road, at KM 3.5, which is just about ½ mile after the river bridge.

Cancellation Policy
1 to 5 guests - Request for changes or cancelations must be received 24 hours in advance to receive refund.
6 to 9 guests - Request for changes or cancelations must be received 48 hours in advance to receive refund.
10+ guests - Request for changes or cancelations must be received 7 days in advance to receive refund.
Request for changes out of the above mentioned time frames will not be refundable.
Last minute cancelations, Late arrivals, No shows for any reason are non refundable. Notice at that time we have already incurred in all tour operation expenses, and may have denied spaces to other people interested.
Cancellation on behalf of our company for weather or mechanical failure will result in a full refund of booking cost.
